The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) won two Gold awards at last night’s Meetings and Incentive Travel Industry Awards 2012. It scooped Gold for ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ and Gold for ‘Access Excellence’. The CCD CEO Nick Waight accepted the prestigious awards during a gala dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
“We are absolutely delighted to receive our 10th and 11th industry awards just 18 months after opening,” said Nick Waight. “It is great to have such strong industry support for our venue and our incredibly dedicated team.”
The ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ award is based on independently audited votes from M&IT readers. The ‘Access Excellence’ award acknowledges organisations that are embracing an inclusive and integrated approach in creating accessible events and the winners were selected by a panel of judges appointed by M&IT. To date, The CCD has received 11 industry awards. In addition, The CCD also achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 quality certification and ISO 14001 environmental management systems certification in 2011.
Since opening in September 2010, The CCD has hosted over 430 association, corporate and public events, including the European Union of Geriatric Medicine Society Conference (EUGMS), British Orthopaedic Association Conference (BOA), Google EMEA Sales Conference, Taste of Christmas, UK Fertilities Conference, European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation Conference, International Statistical Institute’s World Statistics Congress, Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Congress EMEA, TM Forum’s Management World Conference, American Chamber of Commerce 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner and the ‘return event’ for the British Embassy during the historic visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland.
