Promotional content on Dublin

400 words

“Céad Míle Fáilte!” – A hundred thousand welcomes to Dublin, Europe’s liveliest capital with its charming mix of medieval, Georgian and modern architecture, a wealth of history and culture and a legendary literary tradition. Don’t be surprised if you spot a familiar face or two on your travels. Dublin is a regular haunt for supermodels and rock stars who love its laid-back chic.

Dublin is a delight to explore, a youthful city whose streets are steeped in ancient history, where every visit is a journey of discovery. If you want to get your bearings, a good way to start is to hop on an open-top tour bus or take a guided walk around the city. Most of the city’s main attractions are within walking distance of the city centre.

Don’t miss Temple Bar, the cultural quarter of the city, where you’ll find a charming maze of cobblestone streets, restaurants, bars, galleries and theatres. Trinity College is a “must-see” with its spellbinding Elizabethan quadrangles and its magnificent library, home to the famous Book of Kells.

Dublin is also a magnet for the fashion pack, a fact that has not escaped the notice of the world’s top designers. Swish department stores and hip boutiques are in plentiful supply both north and south of the River Liffey, along with the cream of Europe’s high-street fashion chains. Dublin is considered the best place in the world to see and buy traditional and contemporary collections of crystal, crafts, linen and knitwear. Favorite buys are heavy silver Claddagh rings, creamy Aran sweaters and sparkling Waterford Crystal.

For a city its size, Dublin has a dazzling array of eateries. You’ll find Thai, Japanese, Indian, Indonesian, Chinese, Lebanese and Creole restaurants within walking distance of Grafton Street, one of the main shopping thoroughfares. Or try a roast or seafood pub lunch, washed down by a pint of Guinness!

Speaking of Guinness, you can’t come to Dublin without experiencing the “craic” in a real Irish pub! At the last count, there were 1000 watering holes around the city, so you won’t be stuck for choice. Every single one has its own unique atmosphere. Some are the last word in contemporary cool, others haven’t changed in over a hundred years!

Dublin is not a city easily quantified; measurements don’t suit it. It is a place of energy, emotions and talk, so it’s time for you to come and discover for yourself what makes it everyone’s favourite city!
