Our Commitment

Dublin Convention Bureau is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to make our website and digital materials accessible, usable, and inclusive in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and relevant provisions of the EU Web Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/2102).

We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply accessibility best practices across design, content, and development.

Conformance Status

This website partially conforms with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully meet accessibility standards.

Following a full audit, we identified issues relating to:

  • Non-text content (missing or incomplete alternative text)

  • Keyboard focus visibility and skip navigation

  • Colour contrast and use of colour for meaning

  • Form field labelling and error feedback

  • Reflow behaviour at high zoom levels (320–400%)

  • Video captions and transcripts on some older media

Work is underway to resolve these issues according to a phased remediation plan.

Measures to Support Accessibility

To ensure and maintain accessibility, Dublin Convention Bureau has implemented the following measures:

  • Conducted a full accessibility audit (August–October 2025) using automated and manual testing.

  • Adopted an Accessibility Policy requiring WCAG 2.1 AA compliance for all new and updated content.

  • Integrated accessibility validation in content publishing workflows.

  • Begun redevelopment to improve contrast ratios, keyboard navigation, and structural HTML semantics.

  • Established ongoing training for content editors and developers in accessible design and authoring practices.

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Conformance validated against modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox)

  • Optimized for assistive technologies such as screen readers (NVDA, Voiceover), screen magnifiers, and keyboard-only navigation
